Virtually Going the Distance - Sean Collins and friends take on Virtual Marathon Challenge for Leukemia & Lymphoma

Rebekah Lee

Sean Collins is the Promoting Wellbeing Support Worker with the Craigavon and Banbridge Promoting Wellbeing Locality Team. Those who know him are aware that he is a seasoned runner in his spare time and has completed a number of marathons and runs over the years.

Sean and some friends decided to challenge themselves and had initially signed up to take on a marathon in Galway back in April. However, due to the current climate this had to be postponed and was rescheduled a number of times. Not giving up on the idea, they decided to run the distance virtually around Craigavon Lakes and set their date as Saturday 26th September. It will take over 13 laps to complete the required 39.3 miles of the original route.

They have decided to donate all money raised to Leukemia and Lymphoma NI as this charity is very close to their hearts as one of the runners has had a recent personal loss due to this condition. Leukemia & Lymphoma NI is the only charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to blood cancer research. Their mission is to improve survival rates and quality of life for all blood cancer patients by supporting clinicians, scientists and students researching these diseases.

So if you are also a keen runner and would like to show your support, come along on day and join the guys on the run. They would love to see you.
